University Don calls for review of TETFUND law to accommodate private Universities

The Vice-Chancellor of Amedeus University Amizi Ikwuano, Abia state, Professor Samuel Nzotta, has called on the federal government to direct the Tertiary Education Trust Fund(TETFUND) to review its mode of operation to enable the intervention bodies to provide research grants to scholars in private Universities.
He made this call while briefing newsmen on Thursday to announce the official inauguration and unveiling of Amadeus University by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, scheduled to be held on Saturday.
Professor Nzotta said that the review will enhance staff development in private Universities and ensure holistic research activities in the country in general.
“We have scholars in private Universities. When assisted to have breakthroughs in the area of research, it is the general public that will benefit,” the University Don said.
He equally called on spirited individuals at the local and state to assist the University with dedicated infrastructural projects to enhance teaching research and the growth of the University, including new program development.
He used the occasion of the briefing to state the vision and mission of Amadeus University which is contained in its philosophy which is stated among others;
“To promote and provide leadership in research-driven advancement of learning with the ultimate objective of achieving academic excellence in the cognitive and psychomotor domains of the human person.
“To produce self-reliant, nationally relevant, and globally competitive graduates fit for the 21st-century digital world,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
He said that Amadeus University emphasizes scholarship for excellence, unfettered access to higher education, and product quality.
