The Ogun State Police Command has reported the suspected suicide of a 45-year-old tenant, Tolulope Olusanya, whose decomposing body was discovered in her apartment on Madojutimi Abiola Way, Abeokuta.
According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the landlord, Adebesin Adebayo, reported the incident to the Kemta Divisional Police Station around 8:15 PM on Monday. He expressed concern after not seeing the tenant for several days.
Adebayo explained that he visited Olusanya’s apartment and noticed it was locked from the inside, with a foul odor emanating from within. Acting on this report, detectives from the Kemta Division arrived at the scene, forced the door open, and found Olusanya’s swollen body lying on the bed.
Efforts to contact the deceased’s family were unsuccessful, as no immediate relatives could be reached. Plans to move the body to a hospital were hindered due to the lack of appropriate medical equipment needed to handle the situation safely and prevent infection.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
