Late Victor Osawe’s Family life’s in danger as debt dispute leads to threats, arson in Benin City, Edo State
The family of the Late Mr. Victor Osawe faces escalating threats and violence, allegedly over an unresolved, multi-million-naira debt claim by Mr. Anthony Osamuyi, (aka Agbaka). The situation turned deadly on October, 4th 2024 when Mrs. Omon Agho Osawe, the Mother-in-law of Mr. Stanley Ehigiator narrowly escaped an arson attack at her home, allegedly carried out by men linked to the said Mr. Anthony Osamuyi, (aka Agbaka).
The dispute stems from a long-standing business disagreement between the Late Mr. Victor Osawe and Mr. Anthony Osamuyi, (aka Agbaka) who claims that Late Mr. Victor Osawe family owes him an undisclosed amount of money. Although neither party has disclosed the nature of the debt, Mr. Anthony Osamuyi, (aka Agbaka) has reportedly pressured the family for repayment.
According to Mrs. Omon Agho Osawe the trouble intensified when Mr. Anthony Osamuyi, (aka Agbaka) allegedly tried to claim Late Mr. Victor Osawe Daughter, Oyemwen Osawe, as a form of settlement for the debt. Oyemwen Osawe, however, was already engaged to Mr. Stanley Ehigiator.
She recalled, “Before my Daughter got married to Mr. Stanley Ehigiator, Mr. Anthony Osamuyi, (aka Agbaka) had been demanding payment and even tried to force Mr. Victor Osawe to allow him to marry his only daughter as repayment. ”Mrs. Omon Agho Osawe stated that Mr. Victor Osawe initially considered the proposal under pressure but eventually allowed his daughter to marry Mr. Stanley Ehigiator.
Just after the passing of Mr. Victor Osawe, Mr. Stanley Ehigiator And Oyemwen Osawe got married then Mr. Anthony Osamuyi, (aka Agbaka) reportedly began threatening the lives of the newly wedded couple and promised to kill Oyemwen Osawe for refusing to marry him (Mr. Anthony Osamuyi). “My Daughter Oyemwen Osawe and her husband Mr. Stanley Ehigiator had to flee Nigeria due to the continuous threat Mrs. Omon Agho Osawe said. “But when Mr. Anthony Osamuyi, (aka Agbaka) couldn’t find them. he came after me”.
The arson attack at Mrs. Omon Agho Osawe’s home in Benin City, Edo State, left her with severe injuries and destroyed her belongings.
She reported the incident to the Adesuwa Police Division, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria who confirmed they were investigating. “All my belongings have been burnt”, she stated, shaken by the ordeal.
As the investigation continues, the family remains in hiding, fearful for their lives as the violent debt dispute intensifies.
