The State Coordinator, NYSC Zamfara State, Mal. Muhammad Lawan Ahmad, has appealed to the Zamfara State Government to upgrade the facilities at UBEC Training Centre, Gusau which is being used as a temporary orientation camp.
The coordinator made the appeal during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream I Corps Members held on Friday.
Mal Ahmed said the number of Corps Members deployed to state for the NYSC programme has increased hence the need for the intervention.
The coordinator stated a bigger venue within the state capital will ease challenges during orientation exercises.
In his words “we also respectfully appeal to your administration to consider providing the NYSC Scheme with a larger and more suitable venue for hosting Orientation Course activities in the State.
“With the growing number of corps members being deployed to Zamfara, a bigger and more permanent orientation facility has become increasingly necessary.
He appreciated the state government for its numerous support and various welfare packages for corps members as well as other stakeholders for their contribution to the success of the camp.
In his address, Governor Lawal welcomed the Corps Members to Zamfara State and urged them to regard the State as their second home.
The governor who was represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Hon Kashimu Sani Kaura encouraged them to approach their assignments with an open mind and a commitment to making positive contributions to the lives of the people in their host communities.
The Governor described the NYSC as an important platform for promoting national unity and integration, assured the NYSC management in the State of its continued support.
About 800 Corps Members took the oath of allegiance, which was administered by the Chief Judge of Zamfara State, represented by Justice Bello Muhammad Nasir.
