A Special Adviser to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Political Matters, Alhaji Muniru Raji, has described the governor’s promise to deliver 1.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the January 16 presidential election as realistic.
Raji made the remarks on while speaking on a current affairs programme on a Radio station in Osogbo.
Recalled that Governor Adeleke, alongside Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was recently inaugurated as a member of Tinubu’s campaign council ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The three political figures belong to parties outside the APC but have been brought into the campaign structure supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Speaking about Adeleke’s ability to mobilise support for the president despite belonging to an opposition party, Raji said the governor had already begun working towards fulfilling his pledge. However, he expressed concern over whether APC members in Osun would give the initiative the necessary support.
“Those giving us problem are those we are going to work together with for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election,” Raji said.
He argued that the Osun APC leaders should be held accountable if the votes recorded for Tinubu in the state fall short of the 1.5 million target announced by Adeleke.
Raji’s remarks point to a potential challenge in coordinating the political interests of Adeleke’s camp and the Osun APC as pro-Tinubu forces prepare for the election.
On questions surrounding which candidates Adeleke would support in the National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections, Raji said the governor would campaign for candidates of the Accord Party.
“They (Osun APC) have constituted their campaign council for National Assembly and State Assembly and we too will do our own,” Raji said.
