…TCN Boss urges staff to uphold integrity, transparency and ethical conduct

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has unveiled its Anti-Corruption Policy Document as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, integrity and ethical conduct across the organisation.
The policy was unveiled on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the TCN Corporate Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, by the company’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU).
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of TCN, Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, represented by the Executive Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services, Mrs. Abiodun Afolabi-Fadahunsi, described the initiative as a significant step towards reinforcing the company’s commitment to ethical standards and zero tolerance for corrupt practices.
Abdulaziz said TCN’s credibility depended not only on the achievements recorded by the company but also on the manner in which those achievements were attained.
He therefore urged members of staff to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the policy and ensure that its principles were reflected in their daily decisions and official conduct.
According to him, the objective of the policy goes beyond preventing corrupt practices, as it is also designed to promote a culture of honesty, fairness, accountability, transparency and professionalism within TCN.
The TCN boss commended the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit and all individuals who contributed to the development of the document, while calling on staff to support its effective implementation.
He urged employees to uphold the principles contained in the policy in the discharge of their responsibilities.
‘Corruption weakens institutions’
Earlier in her welcome address, the Chairman of TCN’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit, Mrs. E. Benibo, said the unveiling represented more than the presentation of a policy document.
Benibo described the occasion as a demonstration of the collective commitment of TCN management and staff to strengthening integrity, transparency and accountability within the organisation.
She warned that corruption weakens institutions, undermines public confidence and leads to the waste of valuable resources.
According to her, combating corruption cannot be left to a single department or unit, stressing that every member of staff has a role to play in promoting ethical conduct and institutional accountability.
She urged staff to take ownership of the policy and ensure that its provisions translated into everyday professional practice.
Also speaking at the event, the representative of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and ACTU Desk Officer attached to TCN, Mrs. Monsurat Ajoke Ifeajika, presented an overview of the anti-corruption policies.
Ifeajika explained that the document was designed to influence conduct, guide institutional decision-making and strengthen systems for preventing and responding to corruption.
She said the policies provide guidance on the prevention, detection, reporting and response to unethical and corrupt practices within the organisation.
According to her, effective implementation of the policy would require staff to understand their responsibilities and apply the principles of integrity and accountability in their respective areas of work.
The major highlight of the event was the formal unveiling of the TCN Anti-Corruption Policy Document.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the company to institutionalise ethical standards and strengthen internal mechanisms for transparency and accountability.
Management and staff were urged to work collectively towards ensuring that the principles contained in the document become an integral part of TCN’s organisational culture.
