The Edo State Consumer Protection Committee has announced that full enforcement of the ban on sachet gin and others will commence on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

The committee in a terse press statement dated September 21, 2026, and signed by its Chairman, Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture said the extension granted on the ban expired on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

According to the statement,” anyone caught selling, hawking or hoarding sachet gin and Agbo will be made to pay a prescribed fine into the Edo State Government Single Account, while the products will be seized and confiscated.

The committee said the announcement was to prepare the minds of the public ahead of its operation.

“Let’s save our health from fake and adulterated products,” it added.
