Kebbi State Governor, His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has approved the creation of Ummu District under Rafin Zuru District in Zuru Local Government Area of the State.
The approval was contained in a statement signed by the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar Dutsinmari, and issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.
According to the Commissioner, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Gujiya has been appointed as the District Head of the newly created Ummu District.
He explained that the new district was carved out of Rafin Zuru District and comprises eight village areas, namely:
1. Paso Village
2. Sondoro Village
3. Denkre Village
4. Akwanchi Village
5. D’hava (Hato) Village
6. Daklo Village
7. Ummu (Gari) Village
8. Bedi Village
The Commissioner stated that the appointment was made in accordance with the Kebbi State Local Government Law, 2008, particularly Section 10, Subsections (A) and (B), which confer powers regarding the creation of districts and appointment of District Heads.
Alhaji Dutsinmari urged the newly appointed District Head to uphold discipline, honesty, transparency and dedication in the discharge of his responsibilities.
He assured the new District Head of the continued support and cooperation of the State Government and the Ministry, noting that his appointment was based on his track record and demonstrated capacity to serve his community.
The Kebbi State Government remains committed to strengthening traditional institutions, promoting effective grassroots administration, and advancing peace, unity and sustainable development across the State.
