The Kebbi State Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Adamu Mudi-Augie, has defended the administration of Governor Nasir Idris, saying the numerous projects executed across the state in the last three years are clear evidence of prudent management and utilisation of public resources.

Mudi-Augie stated this at a press conference convened to respond to allegations recently levelled against the APC-led administration of His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, over the management of Kebbi State finances since May 29, 2023.

According to the APC chairman, the renewed political season in Kebbi State has brought various political actors into the arena, including individuals who, he alleged, are facing corruption-related cases in court.

“The season of politics has returned to Kebbi, and every actor has surfaced, including those facing corruption charges in court.”

Mudi-Augie described as ironic the alleged attempt by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he associated with former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, to question the accountability of the Kebbi State Government.

He said the ADC’s recent focus on asking “where the money went” was misplaced, given the scale of projects and programmes delivered by the present administration.

“To ask that question amid visible delivery is an insult to Kebbi people who knew the state before May 29, 2023.”

The APC chairman listed several major road projects as evidence of the administration’s investment in infrastructure, including the Birnin Kebbi–Ambursa dualisation, Koko–Mahuta–Dabai Road, Argungu Bypass and solar street-lighting projects.

In the education sector, he said hundreds of schools had been rehabilitated, four mega boarding schools constructed, more than 2,000 teachers recruited and one million textbooks procured for students across the state.

He added that significant interventions had also been recorded in the health sector, with healthcare facilities in 30 locations upgraded, new hospitals constructed, ambulances supplied and thousands of health workers recruited.

On housing, Mudi-Augie said the 250-unit Kauran Gwandu Estate was nearing completion, with plans to replicate similar housing projects for workers and teachers.

He further stated that farmers had benefited from free agricultural inputs, including fertiliser, seeds and solar-powered irrigation pumps under the Kaura Agenda, while irrigation and dry-season farming had been expanded.

According to him, workers in the state are now receiving the new minimum wage, pensions are being paid, inherited liabilities have been addressed and casualisation has been eliminated.

“Government owes no salaries or gratuity,” he stated.

Mudi-Augie further maintained that the projects executed by the administration were undertaken without borrowing, describing this as a significant milestone in the history of the state.

The APC chairman subsequently challenged the ADC to explain the source of the wealth and properties allegedly linked to Malami before questioning the financial management of the Kebbi State Government.

Mudi-Augie referred to reported proceedings before the Federal High Court in Abuja concerning properties linked to Malami, his family and associated companies, alleging that a July 2026 judgment ordered the final forfeiture of 48 properties to the Federal Government.

He said the properties reportedly included hotels, educational facilities, residential and commercial buildings, as well as land located in Abuja, Kebbi, Kano and Kaduna.

According to Mudi-Augie, the forfeiture proceedings arose from action by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), adding that while nine properties under interim orders were discharged, 48 properties were subject to final forfeiture.

“ADC questions a government with visible projects, while Nigerians wait for answers on private hotels, schools and mansions.”

The APC chairman maintained that the people of Kebbi State could see and assess the projects being executed by the present administration for themselves.

He urged the people not to be distracted by what he described as politically motivated allegations, insisting that the government’s record of development across infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, housing and workers’ welfare speaks for itself.

He added that Kebbi people are the ultimate witnesses to the administration’s performance and would not be misled by what he described as individuals of questionable pedigree.
