Kebbi Gov’t establishes 4 FM Radio stations to bring government closer to the people – Info. Commissioner

By: John Bassey, Kebbi.

The Kebbi State Government has concluded arrangements to establish four FM radio stations in Yauri, Zuru, Argungu and Birnin Kebbi as part of efforts to strengthen communication between the government and the people.

The Honourable Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed, disclosed this when he led media aides to the Kebbi State Governor on an inspection visit to the ongoing construction of the Yauri FM Radio Station being undertaken by the Kebbi State Government.

Speaking to journalists shortly after inspecting the level of progress on the project, the Commissioner said the establishment of FM radio stations across the four emirate zones of the state was in line with the administration’s commitment to keeping the people adequately informed about government activities, programmes and policies aimed at accelerating development.

He explained that the radio stations would also provide an important platform for members of the public to communicate their concerns directly to the government, express their developmental needs and provide feedback on government policies and programmes.

The Commissioner said:

“As you can see, we have gone round to inspect the level of work on the project, and the construction is progressing steadily.

“The Kebbi State Government, under the people-oriented leadership of Governor Nasir Idris, is going ahead with the construction of four FM radio stations across the four emirate zones of the state.

“The objective is to bring the government closer to the people, bring development closer to the people and also hear directly from them about their needs. Their feedback will help the government in formulating and implementing policies and programmes that are responsive to their aspirations.”

Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed expressed satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing construction and assured that Governor Nasir Idris remained committed to sustaining effective communication with the people as a means of promoting good governance, accountability and strengthening democracy.
