Gunmen abducted a senior driver with Dangote Cement Company, Ibese, Usman Umar, popularly known as Baba Olowo, in Ajibawo village, near Ijako-Orile, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The incident reportedly occurred around midnight on Wednesday when Umar was returning from work and was attacked shortly after arriving at his residence.
it was gathered that about three armed men ambushed him after he alighted from a motorcycle and dragged him into a nearby bush.
The assailants reportedly fired shots into the air to scare residents and prevent them from intervening. They were said to have escaped on foot through the bush with their victim rather than using a vehicle.
Umar, who works as a senior driver at the Dangote Cement plant in Ibese, was reportedly on his way home from work when he was seized.
The abduction has heightened security concerns in parts of Yewa North, where residents have continued to raise concerns over kidnapping and other criminal activities.
Security operatives have reportedly commenced efforts to locate the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.
As of the time of filing this report, Umar’s whereabouts remained unknown, while it was unclear whether the abductors had established contact with his family or demanded a ransom.
The incident is expected to renew increased security patrols and intelligence-led operations in Ijako-Orile and other vulnerable communities across Yewa North.
The Ogun State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of press time.
