The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency has sealed Bonny Pie Industry located in Akinbo Township, Ewekoro Local Government Area, over the alleged discharge of untreated wastewater into a river serving the community.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the agency’s Information and Public Relations Officer, Mr Luke Adebesin, as obtained by Standard Times Newspaper on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the enforcement action was carried out on the directive of the General Manager of OGEPA, Hon. Kehinde Bello, following a petition submitted by the Olu of Akinbo, Oba Rasheed Olamilekan.

The traditional ruler reportedly accused the company of discharging untreated wastewater into a river used by residents of the community, raising concerns over possible environmental pollution and public health risks.
The agency stated that upon receiving the complaint, its Enforcement Unit visited the facility to assess the situation and verify the allegations contained in the petition.
Following a preliminary inspection, OGEPA sealed the facility to prevent further environmental degradation pending the outcome of a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
Speaking on the development, Bello reiterated the Ogun State Government’s commitment to environmental protection and strict compliance with environmental regulations by industries operating within the state.
He assured residents of Akinbo community that the investigation would be thorough and transparent, adding that appropriate sanctions or corrective measures would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
