The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries in Nnewi North was characterized by manipulation and intimidation of eligible voters by the incumbent Member Representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Peter Uzokwe and Hon. Nonso Smart Okafor, the party Federal House of Representatives Aspirant.
According to eyewitnesses, the exercise on Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Anaedo Hall, Nnewi was meant to start by 8:00am but was unnecessarily delayed till 4:00pm before accreditation commenced which was marred by widespread of smuggling of students through the window by Smart Okafor.
They disclosed that out of one thousand, one hundred and forty nine registered voters, more than one thousand voters lined up in support of one of the Federal House of Representatives aspirants, Amb. Lotanna Ikebunwa but were denied access to enter inside only to smuggle students inside the venue through the window.
This action, according to them led to cancellation of the process, leaving the voters confused and disappointed.
It was also gathered in Ekwusigo that voting started without voters accreditation.
They urged the leadership of the party to do the needful by sticking to the integrity of the party.
