The Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Otunba Gbenga Daniel (BATOGD) Movement has called on its supporters across Ogun State to actively participate in the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries after directing members to stay away from the recent senatorial primary election.
The group explained that the earlier “stay-away” instruction was a strategic move aimed at preventing violence and ensuring peace during the exercise.
In a statement released on Tuesday, BATOGD applauded its members for obeying the directive, noting that their conduct helped forestall a possible breakdown of law and order during the primary.
The movement also commended former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel, for listening to appeals from party stakeholders and choosing peace over political interests.
According to the group, stepping back from active participation in the senatorial contest demonstrated a strong commitment to stability within the APC and underscored the importance of maintaining non-violence in the political process.
BATOGD claimed its intervention helped prevent what could have degenerated into political unrest, stressing that peace, unity, and discipline must remain the foundation of the party’s internal democracy.
The group reaffirmed its loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as a unifying figure within the ruling party.
“The Movement remains committed to internal democracy, party unity, and the leadership vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement noted.
The organisation further urged members to intensify mobilisation ahead of the remaining APC primary elections, particularly the governorship and other key contests across Ogun State.
The statement, jointly signed by 37 political and community leaders from Ijebu, Remo, Sagamu, Ikenne, Odogbolu, and Ogun Waterside, reiterated the movement’s dedication to peace, unity, and democratic values within the APC.
