Zamfara: Retired local Gov’t workers receive N499m as third batch of 2025 gratuity

The Zamfara State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has commenced the payment of gratuity to the third batch of retired Local Government staff across the state at a total sum of Four Hundred and Ninety-Nine Million Naira.

The Ministry also commenced the payment of monthly pensions to the remaining pensioners who were yet to be captured under the ongoing pension payment arrangement.

This development is part of the commitment of the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal to improve the welfare of retirees and ensure that former workers who served the state diligently receive their entitlements without unnecessary delay.

The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr. Ahmad Garban Yandi stated that the payment reflects the government’s determination to address the longstanding challenges affecting retired Local Government workers and pensioners in the state.

He explained that the approval and release of funds for the third batch of gratuity payments followed careful verification and documentation processes to ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness in the exercise.

According to him, the inclusion of the remaining pensioners in the monthly pension payment system demonstrates the government’s resolve to leave no eligible retiree behind in the ongoing reforms aimed at restoring confidence in the pension administration process.

The Commissioner commended Governor Dauda Lawal for prioritizing the welfare of pensioners and retirees despite the numerous challenges confronting the state.

He reassured retirees that the Ministry will continue to work closely with relevant agencies and stakeholders to ensure the smooth and timely payment of gratuities and pensions.

Beneficiaries of the payments expressed appreciation to the Zamfara State Government for the gesture, describing it as a relief that will significantly improve their living conditions and support their families.
