The Presidential aspirant of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Dotun Opaleye popularly known as Zamora has assured the students of unity and inclusive administration if elected in May 2026 Presidential election.

Zamora, who was the former chairman of the association in Ogun state and a student of Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), made the assurance on Wednesday during a press conference to declare his ambition at the NUJ Press Centre.

He said, he was moved to contest for the position dues to some of the challenges been faced by the Nigerian students, which he intended to eradicate to give the association a new face.

“For too long, the Nigerian student has endured neglect, broken promises, and policies made without our input. We have faced inadequate infrastructure, rising school fees, insecurity on campuses, and an education system that does not reflect the future we deserve. Yet, through it all, the resilience of the Nigerian student has never wavered”.

“That is why I am stepping forward. Our struggle is not for personal aggrandizement but for collective liberation. Under my leadership, NANS will return to its roots: a fearless, united, and purposeful body that defends the rights and welfare of every Nigerian student from Sokoto to Port Harcourt”, he said.

He highlighting what his administration will be anchored on he said” Welfare and Accessibility; We will fight for affordable education, improved hostel conditions, and accessible healthcare on all campuses.

“Conversion of NELFUND into a grant; We will partner with the Nigerian government and stakeholders to push for conversion of NELFUND from a loan to a grant. The burden of an education loan will be too stifling for young graduates who are not assured of finding their feet in Nigeria’s labour market.

“Unity and Representation; NANS must speak with one voice. I will ensure inclusivity, transparency, and accountability in all our affairs. No zone, no faculty, no student will be left behind.

“NANS SECRETARIAT; It is disgraceful that after 45 years of existence, NANS does not have a physical secretariat where Nigerian students can converge and call their own. Under my leadership, I will ensure that the process of obtaining the land for the secretariat is done as well as the foundation is laid.

“ONE (1) YEAR NATIONWIDE MORATORIUM ON SCHOOL FEES INCREMENT; Under our leadership, a one year moratorium will be declared to suspend any increment in school fees across all campuses in Nigeria. The Nigerian economy has stabilised, and there is no justification for any further increment by management of our institution.
