Gov Idris urges State-Owned Varsity to cooperate with visitation panel

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris has charged the Management of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero to fully cooperate with the newly inaugurated six member Visitation Panel Committee by providing all necessary information required for its assignment.

The Governor gave the charge on Monday while delivering his inaugural remarks at the formal inauguration of the committee.

Governor Idris explained that the decision to constitute the visitation panel was aimed at to streamlining the university’s administrative system and addressing the challenges and crisis currently affecting the institution.

The visitation panel is led by the Chancellor of the university, His Royal Highness Emir of Yauri, Dr Zayyanu Abdullahi as well as the former Vice-Chancellor of the Abdullahi Fodio University, Aliero, Prof. Mohammed A. Kaoje Zuru, will serve as the Chairman of the panel alongside other distinguished members.

“My intention is to sack those men, most especially the university board members. I am not happy with what is happening in the university. I received detailed reports on the problems affecting the institution through the Commissioner for Higher Education,” he said.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Visitation Panel, Prof. Mohammed A. Kaoje assured the governor of the panel’s readiness to work diligently towards restoring stability and promoting the growth of the university.

He emphasised that members of the panel would not disappoint the governor and the people of Kebbi state.

“We are set to work together and ensure that all identified problems are resolved in the overall interest of the university,” he assured.

The visitation panel committee was approved by His Excellency on 3rd February, 2026 with the mandate to thoroughly examine the university’s operations and ensure that to all challenges are appropriately addressed accordingly.
