The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and national development as it prepares to host its 33rd Convocation Ceremony.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, described the convocation as a significant milestone in the university’s journey of producing globally competitive graduates and advancing solutions to Nigeria’s food security and agricultural challenges.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the convocation ceremony, scheduled to hold from January 23 to January 31, 2026, will feature a series of academic, religious, and ceremonial activities, including the conferment of first and higher degrees, award of prizes, and honorary recognitions. He noted that the event would also serve as an opportunity to reflect on the institution’s progress and contributions to national development.
Prof. Kehinde highlighted key achievements recorded by the university in the areas of research breakthroughs, infrastructural development, staff capacity building, and strategic partnerships with both public and private sector stakeholders. He stressed that FUNAAB has continued to strengthen its reputation as Africa’s leading university of agriculture through impactful research and innovation driven teaching.
The Vice-Chancellor also announced that the Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, would deliver the convocation lecture, adding that his wealth of experience in corporate leadership and nation-building would provide valuable insights for graduates and the academic community.
While appreciating the support of the Federal Government, alumni, and development partners, Prof. Kehinde reiterated the university’s resolve to remain focused on producing graduates equipped with the skills, knowledge, and values required to drive sustainable development in Nigeria and beyond.
He urged parents, guardians, alumni, and members of the public to participate in the convocation activities, describing the celebration as not only a moment of academic recognition but also a testament to FUNAAB’s enduring legacy of excellence.
