The Healthy and Sanitized Environment Foundation (THASEF) has challenged Nigerians to take up the initiative and ensure a sustainable, clean environment, as a clean nation is a healthy nation.
This is even as the group conferred an Eco-friendly home award on Chief Agu Ben C., Ozopuruiliego I of Okoroduru Ekwe, and Founder of Bechrius International and Investment Limited, in recognition of his outstanding commitment to environmental sustainability.
The award was presented during the house-warming ceremony of Chief Agu Ben C in Okoroduru Ekwe, Isu LGA Imo State.
According to THASEF, the Eco-Friendly Home Award is designed to recognize individuals who consciously promote environmentally responsible living through sustainable building practices, sanitation awareness, and eco-friendly residential designs.
They submitted that Chief Agu Ben C. was found worthy of the honour following an assessment of the environmental features integrated into his home, including proper sanitation layout, effective drainage, natural ventilation, and a clean, well-organized environment.
Presenting the award, representatives of THASEF, the Imo State Programme Coordinator, Amaraegbu Obinna Daniel, the Director, Media/Publicity, Ms Onyedim Oluchi Sylvia, and Media Assistant to ED, Mrs Onyinyechi Nwaogu, commended the awardee for demonstrating that modern housing development can coexist with environmental responsibility.
They noted that such initiatives align with the Foundation’s core mission of promoting healthy, sanitized, and sustainable environments across communities.
The ceremony attracted traditional rulers, community leaders, business associates, family members, and other well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the milestone and witness the award presentation.
In his response, Chief Agu Ben C. expressed gratitude to THASEF for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to do more in promoting environmental cleanliness and sustainable living.
He emphasized that maintaining a healthy environment is a collective responsibility and pledged his continued support for initiatives that advance environmental protection and community development.
The award presentation added significance to the housewarming ceremony, serving as a reminder of the growing importance of eco-friendly practices in residential construction.
THASEF urged individuals, developers, and communities to adopt a similar environmentally conscious approach to safeguard public health and ensure a sustainable future.
