The Amiliba community in Nnofor Royal family, Otolo Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State has installed Chief Okechukwu Patrick Onwujiobi (Obiwuenyi) as the Obi of Amiliba, the 3rd, and officially opened their ancestral palace, Obi Amiliba.
The installation and official opening took place at the Obi of Amiliba on Saturday, January 10, 2026, by his Royal Highness, Igwe Dr Kenneth Orizu III, well represented by the Crown Prince, Dr Obianefo Charles Orizu (Obinechendo).
In attendance were: Obi of Umudim, Obi Bennett Okafor,(Amaukwu), Obi of Nnewichi, Obi George Onyekaba, (Obidiugwu), Obi Umuenem, Otolo, Nnewi, Chief Afamefuna Obiekosi, the Chairman of the occasion, Hon. C. C Martins Ndujekwu(Gbazuagu Nnewi), Amiliba PG Chief Walter Udegbunam, Hon. Amobi Adukwulu, PG Otolo Nnewi, PG Nnofor, Hon. John Ejizu, Nnewichi PG, Engr. Sir Emmanuel Udoka Chukwueloka, Sir Chukwuka Okonkwo (Akuamia 1 of Ukpor), Chairman Planning Committee, Chief Philip Nzubechukwu Okafor, (Ogbuefi Ifeadigo), Hon. Amobi Okonkwo (Anunuebe Nnewi), Secretary Planning Committee, among others.
In his remarks, Mr. Walter Udegbunam, the PG Amiliba Development Union appreciated God Almighty for the life, strength, and wisdom he has given them to overcome numerous challenges and bring the project to completion.
“We express our profound gratitude to our noble king, Igwe Dr Kenneth Orizu III, for his fatherly support, wisdom, and blessings which have fostered sustainable peace and progress in the Amiliba community.
“We also appreciate the planning committee members of this event, stakeholders, and the good people of Amiliba for their unwavering support and cooperation, especially Agbaro Nnewi for upholding truth and justice in resolving the age-long land dispute that enabled the Obi Amiliba to be sited where it is today,” he noted.
Udegbunam prayed that God would bless their Obi, Obi Okechukwu Onwujiobi, and all the people of Amiliba.
Chief Phillip Nzubechukwu Okafor, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, while speaking, said it was a remarkable day for the people of Amiliba home and in diaspora to witness the great day.
He expressed his joy for their collective efforts to build their Obi, which, according to him, was built during their time.
“Today, gods of our ancestors have stood by us in (Eke, Orie, Afor, and Nkwo)” he remarked.
Speaking, Hon. Amobi Okonkwo (Anunuebe Nnewi), Secretary of the Planning Committee, said the event was a remarkable one because it was a day they remembered what their ancestors had instituted for them.
He disclosed that they have instituted a structure where all the traditional matters of the people of Amiliba would be treated.
He advised the people to imbibe, adhere to, and respect their traditional institutions for their betterment and well-being.
He showed his gratitude to Igwe Nnewi and others who honoured their invitation, noting that Igwe Nnewi has been with them to ensure that Obi Amiliba is situated where it is today.
The event featured paying homage to the newly installed Obi of Amiliba, masquerade displays, dance, and the presentation of cows to all the quarters in Nnewi.
