The forum of former Councilors in Zamfara state, under the leadership of Hon. Bello Abdullahi Sardaunnan Gwaram, has described the Governor of Zamfara state, Dr. Dauda Lawal, as a just, compassionate, kind, and honest leader that Zamfara state has ever had since its creation.

The chairman of the association of former councillors in the state, Hon. Bello Abdullahi Sardaunan Gwaram, stated this while speaking with journalists in Gusau, the state capital.

He maintained that the Governor is indeed the best leader of Zamfara state owing to his giant strides, recorded in a span of two and a half years. He has performed more than his Predecessors, establishing his love for Zamfara state.

His rescue Agenda, which recorded great success in the total revamp of education and health sectors, including road construction and several infrastructural developments, proved that he not only possesses a fine face but a loving heart for the good people of Zamfara state.

The forum of former Councilors who served at the grassroots for three consecutive terms and witnessed the several leadership styles of former Governors is indeed impressed by the good works of Governor Dauda Lawal.

The Former Councillors, comprising a total of four hundred and forty-one, 441 astute politicians and grassroot mobilizers humbly call on Governor Dauda Lawal to consider their situation with compassion and release their entitlements owed to them by the state Government since 2012 to 2023.

Speaking of the negative impact that the delayed release of the entitlement has brought upon the association, Hon. Gwaram said, “The debts that the state government owed us have deprived us of peace of mind; some of us are in prison, as a result of a peace demonstration, all because we were not paid the entitlements that were owed by the government”.

The entitlement that the government is supposed to have paid us, but it has refused to do so. This is why we are holding meetings to save the rest of our colleagues from this situation. He said

Meanwhile, our colleagues in other states such as Niger State, Kebbi, Kano, and Katsina have been paid accordingly.

Abdulaziz Yari once gathered all of us at the Government House and promised to pay us the money, but even after leaving office, he did not release the money to us.

We went to court, but despite our efforts, we have not been successful till now.

We believe that the delay in releasing the entitlement to us was caused by many problems in the political situation of the state.

However, with the coming of the new government under Governor Dauda Lawal, after reviewing the huge debts he inherited, we withdrew our case from the court.

We commend the effort of Governor Dauda Lawal who commenced the debt payment to those who are still alive as well as to the families of those who have passed away, and we are confident that he will pay us our full entitlements.

Finally, we are indeed passing through untold hardship. We humbly call on the government of a just and compassionate Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal, to look into this matter of paying us our full entitlement.
