Ogun Gov’t assures Ota residents on infrastructural development as Yayi pledges more on empowerment

The Ogun State government under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun has reassured the residents of Ota that his administration is committed to deliver on infrastructural development for the town and its suburb.

This reassurance was made at the 2025 Annual Odun Omo Iganmode day festival, as the governor highlighted major ongoing projects including Atan-Igbesa-Agbara road, Government Housing estates, Lagos-Ibadan express way reconstruction in Ota.

The governor spoke through his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, express appreciation for the peoples support and assured that legacy projects would be in place within the remaining period of the administration

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), representing Ogun West Senatorial District, also pledges his unwavering commitment to the development of Ota-Awori, describing the area as a rapidly urbanising and industrial hub deserving of commensurate infrastructure and social investments.

He noted that the fast-paced urban growth and industrial expansion of Ota-Awori make sustained investments in critical infrastructure imperative, particularly in road construction, solar street lighting, healthcare delivery and energy-related projects.

According to Senator Adeola, Ado-Odo/Ota LGA has been a major beneficiary of his legislative interventions, with projects deliberately tailored to meet its unique developmental needs.

He disclosed that within just over two years, he has facilitated the completion of about 300 infrastructure projects across his senatorial district.

These, he said, include over 115 road construction projects, 30 school buildings, 32 primary healthcare centres, 25 modern markets, 13 town halls, 10 ICT centres, two intensive care units, two libraries and eight police stations.

He also cited the donation and installation of over 200 electric transformers, 250 solar streetlight projects comprising about 26,000 poles, as well as personal intervention in the repair and upgrade of 10 major electricity infrastructures affecting about 100 communities.

“Work has since started on these repairs and upgrades, and Ado-Odo/Ota LGA is a beneficiary”, he added.

In the education sector, the senator disclosed that more than 4,500 tertiary institution students have benefited from scholarships and bursaries ranging between ₦100,000 and ₦200,000, while over 1,000 secondary school students received laptops through his education support initiatives.

Senator Adeola Yayi commended the Olota of Ota-Awori, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege, for promoting cultural renaissance and peaceful community development.

He stressed that if properly harnessed and packaged, cultural festivals such as Iganmode would serve as catalysts for tourism growth and broader socio-economic development.

The Governor expressed appreciation for the people’s support and assured that legacy projects would be in place within the remaining period of his administration.

He congratulated the Olota of Ota, HRM Oba (Prof) AbdulKabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, on the successful hosting of the Iganmode Day 2025, praising the event’s focus on unity, cultural creativity, and kingship.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo emphasized the need for collective effort to develop Aworiland, urging sons and daughters of Ota to support the Olota.

The Olota of Ota, HRM Oba (Prof.) Abdulkabir Obalanlege, congratulated the people on the celebration, highlighting the festival’s role in promoting cultural heritage and unity.
