The Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation has lauded the Office of the Head of Service for its professionalism, efficiency, and strategic importance in driving effective governance across the state.
Members of the committee, led by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, gave the commendation during the defense of the 2026 budget proposals by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, who appeared before the lawmakers alongside the agencies and bureaus under his supervision.
The lawmakers acknowledged the series of reforms and programmes initiated by the Office of the Head of Service, noting that these interventions had significantly enhanced service delivery and strengthened good governance in the state.
They also advocated increased budgetary allocation to the office to build its capacity further and enable it to effectively discharge its statutory responsibilities in the coming fiscal year.
In his response, Mr. Onasanya explained that the 2026 budget proposals of the various bureaux under his office were deliberately designed to focus on capacity building, deepen ongoing reforms, and reinvigorate the civil service to promote efficiency and improved service delivery.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his visionary leadership, which he said had repositioned Ogun State as a preferred investment destination through massive infrastructure development and investment-friendly policies, earning the state recognition in ease of doing business rankings.
The Head of Service urged all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to approach the budget defence process with transparency, integrity and accountability, stressing that prudent financial management remained key to sustaining public trust.
Presenting the budget estimates, Mr. Onasanya proposed a total expenditure of ₦1.252 billion for his office in 2026, comprising ₦291 million for capital projects, ₦748 million for overhead costs, and ₦212 million for personnel expenditure, while the projected revenue target was put at ₦9.7 million.
He further disclosed that the Ogun State Civil Service would mark its 50th anniversary next year, noting that the state had evolved from a traditional civil service–driven economy into an industrialised hub through sustained socio-economic reforms.
Mr. Onasanya was accompanied by top officials, including the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishment and Training, Mrs. Lydia Bolaji Fajounbo; Permanent Secretary, Public Service Reforms, Mr. Jola Oyeneye mni; Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mr. Soji Adewuyi; Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Dipo Ogunfowora; Permanent Secretary, Bureau of State Pension, Mrs. Arinola Adetayo, among others.
