Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State on Tuesday presented a ₦757.88 billion Appropriation Bill for the 2026 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly, describing it as the next phase of his administration’s ambitious transformation agenda.

Tagged “Changing Gears 3.0: Solution Continues,” the budget, according to the governor, is structured to accelerate ongoing developmental projects and deepen reforms across critical sectors.

Soludo disclosed that the proposed budget comprises ₦595.3 billion for capital expenditure, representing 79% of the total appropriation, and ₦161.6 billion for recurrent spending, which accounts for the remaining 21%.

He noted that the fiscal plan carries a ₦225.7 billion deficit, which the state intends to finance through a mix of public–private partnerships, enhanced internally generated revenue, concessions, and support from financial institutions.
“We recorded over 60 per cent budget performance in 2025. Despite it being an election year, we remained focused and in execution mode,” he said.

Presenting the budget, Soludo stated:
“I present to you the proposed 2026 budget totalling ₦757,884,487,705. Compared to the 2025 budget of ₦606.99 billion, this represents a 24.1% increase. The 2026 budget framework is designed to drive growth across all sectors. We remain committed to responsible fiscal management, with no borrowing for consumption.”

He assured that every kobo will be judiciously utilised to maximise value for the people of Anambra, adding that the administration remains determined to build a prosperous, liveable, and smart homeland.

Receiving the proposal, Speaker of the House Somtochukwu Udeze commended the governor for the extensive transformation projects underway across the state. He also pledged that lawmakers would give the budget swift and detailed consideration.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the difference between the 2025 appropriation of ₦606 billion and the proposed 2026 budget of ₦757 billion amounts to an increase of ₦151 billion, representing the stated 24.1% growth.
