‘Give Security Chiefs 90 days to end terrorism or resign’ –Adeboye urges FG to act decisively

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has advised the Federal Government to act swiftly and decisively in addressing Nigeria’s lingering security challenges, urging the nation’s security chiefs to either eliminate terrorism within 90 days or step down from their positions.

Adeboye’s statement comes amid growing international tension following threats from former United States President Donald Trump, who recently accused the Nigerian government of turning a blind eye to what he described as “systematic persecution of Christians.” Trump’s remarks, which stirred diplomatic concern, included a warning that Washington could take “military steps” if the alleged atrocities continue—claims that Nigerian authorities have strongly denied.

Speaking during a church service in Lagos on Sunday, Pastor Adeboye expressed concern over the escalating rhetoric between both countries and called for diplomacy and wisdom in managing the situation.

“If I were asked to make suggestions,” Adeboye said, “I would quietly advise our government to move fast, move diplomatically, move wisely, and find a way to convince the President of America to please delay his actions for about 100 days. And then come home and tell our security chiefs to get rid of these terrorists within 90 days—or resign.”

The cleric’s comments reflect a growing frustration among citizens over persistent insecurity in parts of Nigeria, including frequent attacks by bandits, insurgents, and kidnappers. He lamented that while the government has made efforts to restore peace, the results have not matched the expectations of Nigerians who continue to live in fear.

Adeboye, known for his measured and non-partisan approach to national issues, urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to prioritize national security above all.
