The Presidency has commended the Senate for its rapid screening and confirmation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s newly appointed Service Chiefs, describing the move as a vital step in strengthening Nigeria’s defense apparatus.

Senator Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, highlighted the confirmations as a clear example of effective collaboration between the Executive and Legislature in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.

“The confirmation of Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede (Chief of Defence Staff), Major Gen. Waidi Shaibu (Chief of Army Staff), AVM Sunday K. Aneke (Chief of Air Staff), and Rear Admiral Idi Abbas (Chief of Naval Staff) represents a strategic effort to reinforce the Armed Forces and enhance national security,” Lado said.

He described the Senate’s swift action as “prompt and thorough,” praising lawmakers for prioritizing the security interests of Nigeria.

“Their dedication underscores the strong partnership between the Executive and Legislature in ensuring the stability of our nation,” the statement added.

By rapidly confirming the new Service Chiefs, the Presidency emphasized that Nigeria is better positioned to tackle security challenges while promoting cohesion and synergy across its military leadership.
