The Sokoto State Police Command has presented cheques worth ₦21,330,062.80 to 30 families of police officers who died in active service.
This also includes officers who sustained injuries while discharging their duties. The gesture forms part of the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes, aimed at supporting the families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmad Rufai, stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, presented the cheques to the families of the deceased officers.
He noted that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has shown unwavering commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their families.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture, saying it would significantly improve their lives.
This is not the first time the police command has made such a presentation. In June 2024, the Nigeria Police Force distributed cheques worth ₦2,588,456,838.15 to 563 beneficiaries across the country.
The presentation of these cheques underscores the command’s continued dedication to supporting its officers and their families, even in times of need.
