The wife of Ebonyi State Governor and CEO of Better Health for Rural women, Children, and Internally Displaced persons, BERWO, Mrs Mary-maudline Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru, has empowered people with disability today, Friday, 10th October 2025. At her Office, Government House, Ochudo Centenary City, Abakaliki.

Mrs. Nwifuru promised continuous standing and support for the needy as she is the mother of the state, that she will never relent to do more for the people of Ebonyi State, more especially the people with disability.

The Governor’s wife said she distributed this in mark of the 1st October, the independent celebration, and the 29th anniversary of Ebonyi’s Creation to identify with the disability and share love together.

According to her Excellency, she said, “I distributed these to help the disabled move freely to their Various activities and always remember that there is God, and as the mother of the state, my initiatives would continue to intervene to put smiles on people’s faces.

Two of the beneficiaries, Nwode Emmanuella and Oko Ude Sunday, said they were not born with disability. Emmanuella said she was affected with polio myelitis infection, while Sunday couldn’t give an account of he cause of his disability.

They appreciated the Governor’s wife for remembering them and giving them hope of belonging in society.

In Speaking, the BERWO term led Prof. Mrs Nkechi Emma Echiegu said in the spirit of marking the independent of 2025, the BERWO founder first lady decided to include the rich, the poor, the needy, the disabilities, vulnerablies everybody for the ceremony and that’s why her Excellency distributed the wheelchairs to the disabilities to enable their from movement to make sure they reach their Various activities.

Prof. Mrs Echiegu said there were many interventions that people have been benefiting from, such as hernia, eye surgery, lump, sickle-cell patients, and many others. “We looked forward to continuing another intervention of pregnant women she said.
