Niger command of NSCDC smashes car snatching gang, apprehends suspect

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Niger State Command has arrested a car snatching suspect in connection with an incident of broad daylight car snatching along Zungeru-Tegina Road in Rafi Local Government Area of the State.

This was contained In a press statement from the command’s Image Makers DSC Abubakar Rabiu Muti and made available to Newsmen in Minna.

The Command’s spokespersons Muti stated that on September 6, 2025, at approximately 08:30 pm, the command based on credible information and intelligence report from their Tegina Divisional Office, regarding a vehicle snatching incident involving three suspects.

The Command swiftly moved into action and one of the suspects, (Ibrahim Sule), was apprehended and the stolen vehicle, a (Honda Cross Tower) was recovered.

Preliminary investigations by the Command he said revealed that one of the suspects, (Azi Mu’azu), allegedly poisoned the driver to gain control of the vehicle.

However, the statement added that the officers and men of the command are working diligently to apprehend the remaining two suspects, with confidence that they will be arrested and brought to justice soon.

The NSCDC Niger State Command has also assured the public that it will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the suspects face the full wrath of the law; the moment investigations are concluded as the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.

The state Commandant, Comdt. Suberu SIYAKA ANIVIYE, expressed his gratitude to the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for his leadership and commitment to enhancing the Corps’ security capabilities.

He also appreciates the continuous support of the Governor of Niger State, Umaru Mohammed Bago, in its efforts to maintain a crime-free society.

The statement added that the Command is working closely with other security agencies to ensure crime free society, and it will ensure continuous Protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in Niger State.
