FCT Minister flags off Karu road reconstruction project

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has flagged off the emergency reconstruction of the Karu road from the Karu interchange to Customs Clinic Junction within the Abuja Municipal Area Council of the FCT. The project is part of the FCT Administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure in satellite towns and enhance the quality of life for residents.

This was contained in a press release from Rabi Musa Umar the Assistant Director Press Office of the Minister on Wednesday.

The Minister explained that while the flagship project is the reconstruction of the Karu road, the scope of work has been expanded to include the rehabilitation of additional critical roads in Karu satellite town. The additional roads include Customs Clinic Junction to CBN Quarters junction, NIA Quarters Road, Primus Hospital Road, and the road to EFCC. The project also includes the installation of solar-powered streetlights to improve the business environment.

Barr. Wike commended the AMAC Chairman, Christopher Maiakalangu, for his relentless efforts in championing the needs of the Karu people. He also acknowledged the support of former Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda, whose intervention led to the inclusion of the additional feeder roads in the project. The Minister urged FCT residents to continue to support those who have their interests at heart.

The Minister expressed confidence in the contractor, Messers Abdul Val Nigeria Limited, who has successfully completed a similar project in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council. He urged the contractor to complete the project within 10 months and assured the community that the project would not only involve road reconstruction but also the installation of streetlights.

The Minister reiterated that the provision of basic infrastructure in FCT satellite towns is a critical component of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He called on residents to hold elected officials accountable for their campaign promises and expressed gratitude to the President for his commitment to infrastructure development in the FCT.

The FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, conveyed her deep appreciation to President Tinubu, noting that his Renewed Hope Agenda continues to produce impactful, life-changing projects for the benefit of all Nigerians. She praised the FCT Minister for his dedication and leadership.

The Coordinator, Satellite Towns Development Department, Honourable Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, provided an overview of the Karu road project, stating that the scope of work includes the construction of a 5.4-kilometer length of roads and provision of other necessary engineering infrastructure, including the installation of solar-powered streetlights. The project is expected to be delivered within 10 months and will enhance free traffic flow along the Nyanya-Karshi axis of the FCT.

The Managing Director of Abdul Val Nigeria Ltd., the project’s contractor, Mr. Suleman Abdul, expressed his gratitude to the Minister for awarding the project to his company. He assured that the company would deliver a high-standard job within the stipulated time frame.
