Oyo: From Roads to Classrooms: How Lawmaker redefine representation in OFC
...Hon. Akeem’s Bold Strides in Road Construction and Education (2023–2025)

Two years scorecard of Hon. Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi, Skimeh’s current mandate as the representative of Oyo Federal Constituency (OFC) in the House of Representatives has take governance closer to his people through road construction and education, inline with his re-election campaign programs.
Transforming Roads, Connecting Communities
From 2023 to 2025, Adeyemi has demonstrated that road infrastructure is central to development. Within this period, he delivered no fewer than eight road projects across the constituency, easing transportation, boosting commerce, and linking communities that were previously cut off.
On July 10, 2024, a day now etched in Oyo’s history, six major roads were commissioned. These include: Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III Road, which stretches from Boroboro through Gbenga Oyekola, Alowolodu, Oke Medina to the School of Science.
Prince Ajibola Afonja Road (Oriawo Road Phase 1).
Oriawo to Abolongo Correctional Center Road (Phase 2).
Mafile Road, linking Elebu Olose–Galilee–Awe to the Alaawe Palace.
Awe to Iwo Road repairs, which included the construction of two critical bridges at Oniyere and Awusan villages.
Kosobo link Akunlemu Awe Road.
In addition, 2025 saw the commissioning of two more significant projects:
Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade I Road (Fatuke/Elega Road), opened on April 3rd, 2025.
Alamo Road, Ilora, also commissioned on the same day.
These projects have not only improved mobility but also honored notable sons and traditional rulers of Oyo, ensuring that the roads themselves become monuments of heritage.
Investing in Education and the Future
Adeyemi’s achievements in education over the past two years reflect his passion for equipping young people with tools for the future. He has combined classroom infrastructure, ICT capacity-building, and academic competitions to raise the bar of learning across the constituency.
On February 20, 2023, he launched a capacity training on ICT, distributing 150 laptops to beneficiaries.
By May 2023, an ICT center was commissioned at SPED International Secondary School.
On October 7, 2023, another 50 constituents were trained in ICT skills, with laptops distributed to all participants.
Between October 16–18, 2023, he commissioned ICT centers at School of Science, Saabo, Ilora Community Commercial High School, and St. Francis Catholic College, Oyo.
He also donated 20 NECO forms to outstanding students during the Oba Adeyemi Mathematics Competition organized by NAOS in October 2023, while about 700 participants received notebooks and textbooks. The overall winner, Oladoja Judah of SPED International, went home with a laptop.
In 2024, Adeyemi’s drive deepened:
On October 18, 2024, he commissioned a block of six classrooms at Community High School, Awumoro.
He announced a Federal University scholarship for Miss Aleem Aishat of Fiditi Grammar School, the winner of the 2024 edition of the Oba Adeyemi Mathematics Competition. She also received a cash prize.
On the same occasion, cash prizes were presented to Miss Salawu Faoziyat (Model High School), Miss Oluwaleye Esther (Olivet Baptist High School), and Miss Olayiwola Faizol (Anglican Methodist Grammar School, Apaara) for their performance in a debate competition held in honor of late Alaafin Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III.
Again, about 1,000 students who participated in the competition were given educational materials, reinforcing his belief that no child should be left behind.
A Representative with a Purpose
For Adeyemi, these projects are not just about scoring political points; they are about giving tangible evidence of democracy. In his words, “Representation should not be about occupying an office; it should be about delivering results that impact lives.”
As opposition voices attempt to downplay his efforts, the roads and classrooms across Oyo stand as testimony. His philosophy remains clear: governance should be felt in communities, not just heard in promises.
With two years already producing landmark achievements, Hon. Adeyemi is focused on doing more, bringing more infrastructure, more educational opportunities, and more dividends of democracy to Oyo Federal Constituency.
Indeed, for his supporters, “Skimeh” has proven that true representation is not rhetoric but results.
