The Chairman of the Riders and Owners of Motorcycles Organisation (ROMO) in Ogun State, Alhaji Olusola Rasak Shotayo, popularly known as Sholebo, has called on commercial motorcycle riders to prioritise their safety and the lives of their passengers as the rainy season intensifies.
Speaking from the ROMO State Secretariat in Abeokuta, Sholebo advised riders to suspend operations during heavy rainfall, citing the increased risk of road accidents caused by poor visibility and slippery surfaces.
“We understand the daily hustle and the pressure to meet financial targets, but no amount of income is worth risking your life,” he stated.
“The rainy season brings dangerous conditions, and we urge our members to avoid riding during downpours and to always wear appropriate safety gear.”
Sholebo reaffirmed the union’s dedication to the welfare of its members, assuring that ROMO leadership continues to engage relevant authorities to improve working conditions and ensure the safety of all commercial motorcyclists in the state.
I“Our priority is your wellbeing. We will keep pushing for policies that protect and empower you,” he added.
He also encouraged riders to remain law-abiding and considerate to other road users, especially during this challenging weather season, emphasizing that safety must remain at the forefront of every rider’s mind.
