PDP Chairman of Bayelsa Caretaker Committee announce new party structure

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bayelsa State Chapter, Barr. Alabo George Turnah has made public the formation of over eight Directorates for the smooth administration of the party and given members a sense of belonging.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the PDP Caretaker Committee, Mr Derri Wright, and made available to newsmen in Yenagoa.
The statement indicates that the newly created Directorates include Finance and Administration, Media and Publicity,
Mobilization and Field Operations,
Internal Security, Transport and Logistics, Planning, Research and Statistics, Procurement (Due Process), and New Media.
According to the statement, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Barr. Alabo George Turnah has approved the appointment of Special Adviser on Party Administration, Inter Party Relations, Conflict Resolution and Reconciliations, Conduct and Disciplinary Matters, as well as Special Adviser on Internal Security and Field Operations, Special Adviser on Stakeholders Engagement, Zonal and National Working Committee Affairs, and Special Adviser on Governmental Affairs.
Other appointments that the Party intends to make according to the statement are those of Senior Special Assistants on Special Duties, Contact and Linkages, Persons with Special Needs Mobilization, NGOs/ CSOs Mobilization, Non-Indigenes Mobilization, Women Mobilization,
Youth Mobilization and Students Mobilization.
According to the Party, positions of Special Assistants will include Media, New Media Communications, Protocol, Photography, Videography,
Domestic Affairs for the Chairman’s Household and Social Events, Logistics, Legal as well as Security.while the positions of Senior Special Assistants are on Special Duties, Contact and linkages, persons with special needs mobilization, NGOs and CSOs mobilization, Non Indigenous mobilization, women mobilization, youth mobilization and students mobilization.
The party listed the positions of Special Assistants to include Media, New Media Communications, protocol, photography, videography, domestic Affairs for the Chairman’s Household and Social Events, Logistics, Legal as well as security.
According to the statement the Directorate will be headed by Directors from each of the parent eight local government areas to ensure grass root governance structure of the party and reflect the diverse opinions of members.
The Chairman also said one party member will be appointed from each of the 24 constituencies to ensure that no local government area is left out in the new drive of the party to give people at the grassroots to own the party. He assured that all the appointees will be entitled to salaries and allowances.
He said the initiative will increase commitment on the part of party faithfuls to have a sense of ownership and foster equal representation in the party.
In another development, Alabo George Turnah has assured political appointees disengaged by Governor Douye Diri for participating at the New Associates Inauguration and rally of the support of PDP Caretaker Committee adding that they will be included in the appointments.
Barr. Alabo George Turnah, MON gave the assurance while in a meeting with the 27 appointees to show solidarity.
Turnah who is also the South-South Zonal Secretary of the PDP advised the sacked appointees to be resolute in their resolve for a better Bayelsa noting that politics without bitterness should be their watchword in their political journey.
It would be recalled that penultimate week the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri was alleged to have sacked some of his appointees over allegations of having attended a rally organized by a Pro-Wike group, the ‘New Associates Igbogene, a suburb of Yenagoa.
Barr. Alabo George Turnah at the meeting urged the appointees to remain strong and resilient, assuring that ‘the challenging they are facing will soon become a thing of the past and end in glory’.
He expressed gratitude for their contributions to the Prosperity Administration and pledged to sustain them during their trying times.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the meeting, the Party Chieftain informed that the meeting was conceived to raise their morale and put behind their ill fated sack by Governor Douye Diri which is at variance with the prosperity mantra.
He said his hand of fellowship to the embattled appointees is a ddemonstrationof the party’s commitment to support members.
