Nasarawa Gov’t seeks citizens’ opinion on Budget Formulation

Nasarawa State government has Organized aTown Hall engagement with Stakeholders to seek contribution towards the formulation of the 2027 Budget.

The event which took place on Thursday at the NASIDA Hall Lafia, had participants drawn from different Sections of the State.

Declaring the programme open, the State Commissioner, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Ahmed Yakubu Muhammad, said the Meeting was put in place to strengthen Citizens participation in the State Budget Process.

According to him the event was meant to fill the gap by giving room to government to explain the Budget process and allow Participants to ask questions as well as make recommendations on development projects of public interest.

Muhammad who explained that a similar process carried out in 2025 is currently yielding success, said the Citizens engagement towards the preparation of the State Budget will further encourage Accountability and transparency.

He assured that the State government will continue to formulate Budgets that would capture Projects that will be of interest to the people.

Earlier, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Isa Abdul Osama, said Citizens of the State will always be engaged in a Meeting to enable them contribute their opinion on desired projects that would be captured in future Budgets.

According to him the best Budget is the one that come from the people, assuring that the State government will always prepare Budgets that are Citizens centered.
