Edo LP Senator Imansuen mulls defection as APC stalwarts mount pressure

There are strong indications that the member representing Edo South Senatorial District under the platform of the Labour Party (LP), Senator Neda Imansuen, may soon defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress APC as members of the APC mounts suffocating pressure on Federal Lawmaker.
The Labour Party in Edo State and at the National level have been engulfed in intractable leadership crises and factions.
The lawmakers, on several occasions, had evaded questions on his continuous membership of the LP owing to the crisis rocking the party.
Imansuen is often seen in public functions alongside notable leaders of the APC in Edo State. He is said to enjoy cordial relationships among members of the ruling party in the state. The rumor over his likely defection has sent tongues in the political circle wagging.
Giving credence to the speculation and his imminent defection, the Special Adviser to Governor Monday Okpebholo on Political Mobilization and Engagement, Hon Eugene Utubor, Tuesday night visited the Edo politician in a bid to mount pressure on him to join Okpebholo in his developmental agenda.
It was reliably gathered that the meeting, which lasted for several hours, centered on discussions on having LP National Assembly members join the party. A source privy to the meeting described it as fruitful.
Imansuen, the Chairman of the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges, was said to express gratitude for the visit and commended the efforts of Governor Monday Okpebholo in driving development in the state.
He was quoted to have stated, “The governor has done remarkably well in such a short time,” Sen. Neda remarked.
“It is crucial that we come together to ensure the success of his vision for our people. Every well-meaning Edo citizen is encouraged to rally around the governor as he works diligently for our collective progress.”
