OGEPA urges Ogun residents to maintain healthy environment during Easter celebrations

The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) has urged the Ogun State residents to embrace environmentally responsible practices as they commemorate Good Friday and Easter celebration.

The call was made by the agency’s General Manager, Kehinde Bello, who encouraged Christians in Ogun State and beyond to reflect the values of sacrifice, renewal and hope associated with the Easter season through actions that promote environmental sustainability.

Hon. Bello noted that while Good Friday symbolises selflessness and sacrifice, Easter represents new beginnings, adding that these values should inspire residents to adopt habits that protect and preserve the environment.

He stressed the need for proper waste disposal during the festivities, warning against indiscriminate dumping of refuse and activities that could undermine the cleanliness and safety of public spaces.

According to him, residents must ensure that celebrations do not come at the expense of the environment, emphasising that maintaining a clean and healthy environment remains a collective responsibility.

The OGEPA boss further encouraged residents to promptly report environmental violations to relevant authorities, while extending his goodwill to Christian faithful for a reflective Good Friday and a peaceful, environmentally conscious Easter celebration.
