Veteran photojournalist, Zubairu Shaba is Dead

Malam Zubairu Shaba, a veteran photojournalist, died last Sunday at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) after a brief illness, as contained in a statement issued by Alhaji Kabiru Sa’idu Funtua of the Blueprint Newspapers Regional Advert Department.

Funtua stated ‘We are deeply saddened to share this news of the demise of our dear colleague and a veteran photo-journalist, Malam Zubairu Shaba. He was reported dead last Sunday morning at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano (AKTH), after a long battle with an undisclosed illness.” 

According to the statement, the deceased had earlier worked with New Nigeria Newspapers before joining the Triumph Publishing Company and later on with Hotline Magazine, Daily Trust Newspapers, Market Magazine, and a host of other national dailies across the country. 

A traditional title holder of Sarkin Kofar Patigi, Kwara State, the late Zubairu Shaba is survived by a wife, 13 children, and many grandchildren. 

The deceased could best be remembered for his effort in setting up the Photography Department for Triumph Newspapers Publishing Company, the department he also headed till his retirement from the services of the company. 

At the time of filing this news, sympathizers are trooping to the deceased residence at No 21 Shagari Qtrs, Kumbotso Local Government area, to condole the family of the late veteran journalist.
