Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Barrister Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, has tasked Members of the Correspondent’s Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists to be objective and always cross-check their facts before publication.
Barrister Magaji gave the advice on Wednesday when members of the Chapel paid him a courtesy visit to Lafia, the State Capital.
Magaji, who thanked members of the chapel for their visit to congratulate him on his recent appointment as Secretary to the State Government, said he will diligently perform the responsibilities attached to his Office for the good of the administration.
According to him, since he came on board as Secretary to the State Government, no file has spent over two hours on his table, adding that since the government is about public perception, he will do all he can to educate the people concerning government policies and programs through the Media.
He said the Media has been a partner in his past services and, therefore, will uphold that relationship as he continues to serve the people.
While commending members of the Chapel for their support to the administration of Abdullahi Sule, he said the current leadership of the State came to continue with the good works done by previous administrations, adding that the administration has already executed projects that touch the lives of the citizenry.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Correspondent’s Chapel in the State, Comrade Isaac Ukpoji, said the aim of the visit was to Congratulate the new Secretary to the State Government over his recent appointment.
Ukpoji, who said the appointment of Barrister Labaran Magaji did not come to them as a surprise due to his good track record, appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule for finding him fit for the position.
He appealed to the Secretary to the State Government to consider and carry the chapel along, especially in areas of publicity.
