Legislators of Niger State House of assembly has confirmed the appointment of Engr. Mohammed Jibrin Imam as the chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) and seven permanent commissioners.
This confirmation was presented during the 123rd sitting of the tenth legislative assembly on February 18, 2025, by the speaker, Hon. Mohammed Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji.
The motion for confirmation was moved by Hon. Sani Idris of the Tafa constituency and seconded by Zubairu Ismail Zanna of the Rafi constituency.
The seven confirmed commissioners are:
1. Barr. M. A. Lman – PC One
2. Nasiru Ubandiya – PC Two
3. Yahaya Idris Abara – PC Three
4. Capt. Moh’d Baro – PC Four
5. Kabiru Tanko Zama – PC Five
6. Barr. Amina Guar – PC Six
7. Barr. Ahmed Borgu – PC Seven
The speaker stated that the confirmation process was intentionally delayed for three weeks to allow for public petitions, complaints, or protests in accordance with legal provisions.
He declared “Since no such issues were raised, the assembly proceeded with the confirmation.”
