Niger government received 21 monitors held for trafficking

TUNDE BOLAJI, MINNA.

Niger state government has received twenty-one rescue trafficked children with an average age of nine from the Magama local government area of the state.

 Deputy Governor of the state  Comrade Yakubu Garba made this known while he received the children on behalf of the Niger state government in Minna; he said they were intercepted in Gaidam, Yobe state, en route to Cameroon, Mali, and Niger Republic.

He explained that the rescued underage children are from the Magama local government area of Niger state while appreciating the federal government, security agencies, and human trafficking agencies for the rescue of the children.

Comrade Garba stresses that it is a crime that trips off common ideas of brotherhood, hence government protection against all forms of trafficking, violence, oppression, injustice, and other forms of inhuman treatment.

He maintained that this had violated Nigerian constitution section 34 sub-section 1, and section 13 of the constitution that forbids all forms of trafficking in person in the country.

Responding, one of the parents of the rescued children, Jamilu Usman, who identified two of his children Umar Jamilu 6years and Maruf Jamilu 5years noted that Malam Abubakar is a well-known person to them who studied in the Niger Republic.

He explained that they gave the authority for their children to go with the Malam Abubakar to the Niger Republic to acquire Islamic knowledge, adding that he is the headmaster of Tungan Gari primary school in Magama local government with four wife and 30 children who will retire from service in the next 5 years.
