Bankers Committee awarded Ebonyi Gov wife as Most Supportive First Lady

Ebonyi First Lady, Chief Mrs. Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru, has emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and the banking sector in driving economic growth and development.
Mrs. Nwifuru made this known during the 2024 Abakaliki Bankers Committee Dinner and Award Night, held at Re-Meritona Hotel, Abakaliki, with the theme, “Digital Trust in Banking: the Foundation of a Secure and Resilient Financial System.”
In her speech at the event, Mrs. Nwifuru commended the banking sector in the state for its innovative approaches and commitment to serving the people, highlighting its contribution to financial inclusion, economic empowerment, and the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.
She stressed the importance of improving financial literacy, increasing access to banking services, and supporting policies that foster economic development in Ebonyi local communities.
The First Lady who was honored with the “Most Supportive Governor’s Wife in Nigeria” award, appreciated the organizers of the event stating, that the honor would spur her to do more work for humanity
In his remark, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Daniel Ogbuogu, branch controller Ebonyi, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), said Mrs. Nwifuru was recognized for her numerous and supportive contributions to the Banking Sector.
Ogbuogu highlighted the importance of digital trust in banking, emphasizing the need for innovation and service delivery to meet the evolving needs of the customers.
In her lecture titled: Digital Trust in Banking,
Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Ogbuogu, a renowned expert in the field, stressed the need for banks to prioritize digital trust in their operations. She highlighted the increasing importance of digitalization in the banking system.
According to Dr. Ogbuogu, going digital is no longer an option for banks, but a prerequisite for financial transactions. However, she warned that digitalization also comes with its own set of challenges, including cyber threats and potential losses.
Highpoints of the event were the presentation of several awards, to banks and individuals, including the “Most Supportive Governor’s Wife in Nigeria” award to Mrs. Nwifuru, Best Controller of the Year 2024 award, to Ogbuogu Daniel, Other awardees included First Bank, UBA, Access Bank, Zenith Bank and Fidelity Bank, which were recognized for their outstanding performances in various categories.
