New Year, New Beginnings: RHAGF Expands Humanitarian Reach in Abuja

By: Goodluck E. Adubazi, Abuja.

A non-governmental organization renowned for its humanitarian services, the Regy and Henry Amazing Grace Foundation (RHAGF), has started the year 2025 by extending support to Abuja’s most vulnerable communities. Known for its significant impact on the lives of Nigerians, RHAGF continues its mission of improving lives and fostering societal transformation.

Founded 14 years ago, the NGO has carved a niche for itself through its wide range of impactful initiatives, including:

  • Slums to School
  • Family Economy Strengthening
  • Digital Literacy
  • Advocacy Against Gender-Based Violence
  • Awareness Campaigns Against Human and Child Trafficking
  • Catch-Them-Young Program
  • Empowerment and Rehabilitation of Sex Workers
  • Adult Literacy

Among many other programs.

The foundation concluded 2024 with its final quarterly program in Mabuchi Village, Abuja, where over 200 individuals were trained in various skills acquisition programs.

Empowering Stories

Speaking to Standard Times, Paul Kings Adaji, a trainee and master’s degree holder in Political Science, shared his experience. After numerous failed attempts to secure a job, he joined the training program and learned soap-making and other entrepreneurial skills. “I no longer need to look for white-collar jobs, which are scarce in Nigeria,” he said. “I am now empowered to be self-reliant and will work to help others off the streets.”

Another participant, 17-year-old Destiny Sule, a student in SS2 at Government Day Secondary School, Mabuchi, expressed her gratitude: “Now that I’m empowered, I will immediately establish a business to support my education after secondary school.” She also appealed to the federal, state, and local governments to provide additional funding to help the foundation reach more people.

Coordinated Efforts

The final program of 2024 was coordinated by Regina Martha Efiom, with support from trainers of the Amazing Grace Foundation. RHAGF organizes four empowerment programs annually and monitors the progress of trainees through a dedicated evaluation system each January.

Widespread Impact

Since its inception, RHAGF has extended its humanitarian efforts to numerous slum villages in Abuja, including Utako, Nyanya, Jabi, Jayi, Kpana, Kado, Kukwabang, Maitama Village, Kubwa, and Mabuchi Village, among others.

The foundation’s National Director, Dr. Duru Regina, reaffirmed its commitment to creating a society free from social vices and fostering self-reliance in marginalized communities. “Our goal is to improve livelihoods and empower individuals in underserved communities,” she said.

On December 21, 2024, the foundation concluded its activities for the year with a three-day training program in Mabuchi Village. The event empowered youths with skills and provided materials and cash gifts to support their entrepreneurial journeys.

Looking ahead to 2025, RHAGF has pledged to focus on taking more out-of-school children back to school and expanding its humanitarian initiatives. The foundation’s efforts on New Year’s Day highlight its dedication to making 2025 a transformative year for less-privileged individuals in Abuja.

Regy and Henry Amazing Grace Foundation remain steadfast in their mission to uplift vulnerable communities and create a better future for all.
