Police declare Ifada A. Happy wanted over alleged killing in Benin, offer N1m reward

The Edo State Police Command has declared one Ifada A. Happy wanted over the alleged killing of a rival cult member, John Ikhayere, during a violent clash in Benin City.

According to police reports, Ifada A. Happy suspected to be the leader of a cult group, allegedly attacked John Ikhayere with a cutlass during a confrontation with a rival gang on Warri Road on November 23rd 2023. Eyewitnesses said the victim was struck on the neck and collapsed instantly, as both groups fled the scene, leaving him in a pool of blood.

Residents later alerted the police, who rushed the victim to hospital for treatment. However, after three days of medical attention, John succumbed to his injuries on November 26th 2023.

Police said efforts to trace Ifada A. Happy and members of his gang have so far been unsuccessful, prompting authorities to declare him wanted.

The command has placed a bounty of N1 million on the suspect, urging members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to his arrest.

Spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command assured that investigations are ongoing, vowing that all those involved in the incident would be brought to justice.
