Arondizuogu community in Imo State has once again been thrown into fear and panic as insecurity deepens in the area. The community has become notorious for serial killings and kidnappings allegedly carried out by unknown gunmen linked to ESN militias. Many politicians, youths, and residents have reportedly fled the area.

According to our correspondent, the latest attack, which occurred around midnight on July 24, left more than seven people dead. A house and a car belonging to one Mr Jeff Okey Owunna were burnt to ashes, as he was reportedly targeted by the militia group.

The Owunna family has reportedly been under attack in the past, with some children killed and the wife of Jeff Okey Owunna allegedly raped. Despite these ordeals, Jeff Okey Owunna continues to live in the community, though in fear for his life.

The traditional ruler of the community, Eze Kosmann Ndubuisi Kanu, condemned the attack and called on the Federal and Imo State governments to take urgent action to end the killings in the area.

Confirming the incident, Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, urged the public to remain calm and assured that the police are doing everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators.
