Cultists’ Ambush: Police Declare Olumuyiwa Ajala Missing in Abeokuta

A 27-year-old man, Olumuyiwa Ajala, has been declared missing by the Ogun State Police Command just days after reporting an ambush by suspected cultists in Abeokuta.

Authorities believe his disappearance is linked to a violent cult clash that claimed the life of his cousin, Adewale Ajala, on March 25, 2023, at Oke-Suna Junction, Olokuta.

The deadly attack, carried out by suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity, took place at Olumuyiwa’s residence. While Adewale was brutally killed, Olumuyiwa escaped the same fate simply because he was not home at the time.

During police investigations, Olumuyiwa denied any involvement with cult groups, claiming he had no knowledge of his cousin’s affiliations until the tragic incident. He later learned that Adewale’s murder was allegedly a revenge killing for the February 2023 assassination of an Aiye Confraternity leader, an attack in which Adewale was said to have played a role.

Following police questioning, Olumuyiwa’s brother reported an assassination attempt by suspected Aiye members on Olumuyiwa.

He alleged that the cultists mistook Olumuyiwa for a member of the rival Eiye Confraternity, to which his late cousin belonged.

Two days after lodging the report, Olumuyiwa mysteriously went missing. The police have since launched an investigation into his disappearance, fearing that cultists may have made another attempt on his life.

The Ogun State Police Command has urged the public to come forward with any information on his whereabouts. Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to contact the nearest police station.
