Honourable Balogun Olatunji Smith has emerged the candidate of the Oyo State House of Assembly Constituency 2, Ibadan North East Local Government, on the platform of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) primaries election held during the week, at Agugu area, Ibadan, just as he promised to uplift the socio-economic and political development of constituency alongside the State Government.
The NNPP officials from Abuja who came to conduct the primaries election were Dr. Rabiu Aliyu Abdulkadir, Abubakar Bilyaminu and Prince Adedayo Adeyemi (the chairman), alongside Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials who came to observe, announced Balogun Smith as the winner with 16 votes, as against his opponent Kabiru Bakare with 5votes, thus, Balogun Smith will contest the 2023 General Elections (State Assembly).
In his post-primaries election result speech, issued by his media aide Laide Abbas, the Oyo Assembly hopeful promised to live up to the expectations of the members, just as he added that, team work will also give the party victory at the State level.
He also extended his thanks to the party chieftains like Chief Rashid Adebisi Olopoeyan (Great Leader), Adesesan Adegbola, Soji Olaojo and Mrs. Yemisi Atanda (State Chairman, Secretary and women leader), Asiwaju Kola- Balogun Taofiq, Kolawole Olaitan among others for sustaining the party, thus far, in the face of Stiff intimidation and persecution.
Standard Times Nigeria reports that Balogun Smith who is one of the children of the late great Ibadan land indigene, Abdul-Ghani Kolawole Balogun a.k.a GKB – a man of many parts, was the first chairman, Ibadan Municipal Government (IMG) 1977-1979 and Zonal Executive Chairman/Coordinator, Local Organizing Committee (LOC) NIG’99 (World Cup), promised to continue the good works of his late father.
