Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, MESL, has assured stakeholders of business continuity and sustained investment in power generation as it formally introduced its incoming Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mal. Siraj Abdullahi, to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC.
The introduction was made during a courtesy visit to the Commission in Abuja led by the outgoing MD/CEO, Engr. Lamu Audu.
Engr. Audu said the engagement with the regulator was part of efforts to ensure a seamless leadership transition, protect investor confidence and reaffirm the company’s commitment to the commercial viability of Nigeria’s electricity supply industry.
He thanked NERC for its regulatory support during his tenure, noting that transparent and predictable regulation is critical to sustaining private sector investment in generation.
The incoming CEO, Mal. Siraj Abdullahi, is expected to drive the next phase of growth for Mainstream Energy, which manages Kainji and Jebba Hydro Power Plants, two of Nigeria’s most strategic generation assets with a combined capacity of 1,300MW.
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission congratulated Abdullahi on his appointment and commended Audu for his contributions to the sector. It reaffirmed its commitment to creating an enabling regulatory environment that supports operational efficiency, investment inflow and improved electricity supply for consumers.
The leadership change at Mainstream Energy comes at a time when generation companies are central to Federal Government’s reforms to stabilise the grid, improve liquidity and attract long-term capital to the power sector.
Analysts say smooth succession and continued engagement with regulators are key to maintaining market confidence in the power industry.
