Two in Ebonyi state have allegedly defiled two girls in the state. The two men committed the crime in Okofia, Ezza South Local Government area of the state and Amaelu, Amachi in Afikpo North local Government area.
In the Ezza South incident, Sunday Okah, 49, was accused of defiling a 9 year old girl while Azubuike Isu, 55, was accused of also defiling a 9 year old girl in Afikpo North.
Mrs. Agnes Opoke of Okofia, Ezza South explained that the incident happened when she sent the victim her daughter on errand to bring her phone to her from where it was kept.
She alleged that on her way going, Okah her neighbor dragged her daughter inside his room and defiled her.
She noted that she got to know about it on Tuesday this week and quickly took her to the man’s house but the suspect denied the act.
“I told my little daughter to go and bring my phone, and on her way going ,a neighbor, Sunday Okah called her to come but she told him she was on errand but he dragged her into his house and inserted his finger into her private part.
“I got to know about it on Tuesday this week. When we took her to the man’s house, he stated that he did not do such a thing .It was our community people that said we should take her to lab. He refused to follow us to the hospital”, she said.
She lamented that the man has not been arrested and was even angry with her because the matter was reported to their pastor.
In the Afikpo North incident, Christopher Egwu alleged that a 55 year old man living in the same village lured her 9 year old daughter to his house to be massaging his penis and later inserted it in her daughter’s mouth to be sucking.
Egwu stated that he wasn’t in the village when the incident occurred but that it was her younger sister who called his attention to the issue.
“It was my younger sister that called and told me that a man, Azubuike Isu living in their compound took my daughter to his house and told her to be massaging her penis and as she was doing that, he now put his penis in her mouth to suck.
“My daughter is 9 Years Old, she is in Primary 4. After this thing happened, my sister said he can no longer endure it again because the same man has done that same thing before”, he said.
He further explained that he has reported the matter to the villagers who advised him to take her daughter to the hospital to truly ascertain what happened.
The state Coordinator of Gender Based Violence Taskforce, Mrs. Faithvin Nwanchor stated that the parents of the victims called her attention on the sexual assault meted on two young girls on 24th March,2022 but she told them to bring the children to Gender Based Violence clinic where they normally examine the true situation of their medical condition.
According to her, the first incident happened at Ezza South while the second one is from Afikpo North where 9 years old girls were sexually assaulted.
She disclosed that her office has quickly responded by going with team of policemen to arrest the culprits, noting that the victims were undergoing medical examination to unravel what actually transpiration.
Nwanchor said the doctor and a psychologist after medical examination will determine the damages and equally counsel them as well as prescribing drugs for them.
She called on Parents to wake up to their responsibilities by knowing and questioning the movement and activities of their children regularly to avoid recurrence of the incident.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Loveth Odah stated that she will get in touch with the DPOs incharge of the area since it has not been reported to her office.
“I am not aware, but I will inquire from the DPOs”, she said
