2023 Election : 7 Delta commissioners resign appointment to contest in the forthcoming Election

As the race to the 2023 general election gathers momentum, no fewer than 7 commissioners had resigned their appointments to contest for elective positions. Those who have thrown in the towel included the commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr Julius Eyetan Egbedi ; Commissioner of Water Resources and Development , Mrs Evelyn Oboro , Commissioner of Basic Education , Mr Chika Ossai and the commissioner of Power and Energy , Mr Jonathan Ukodiko who is angling for house of representatives and among others. Also on the resignation list were Mr Ovie Agas , chief of staff , government house , and Mr Olorogun Gordon , governor’s aide on political matters. When our correspondent called the Secretary to the State Government , Mr Patrick Ukak , to confirm Agas’ resignation he declined comments. The SSG said our man should verify from the resignee . Furthermore , unconfirmed sources disclosed that Mr Ovie Oghourie , Commissioner for Transport , has equally resigned to contest the seat for house of assembly in Isoko North constituency. All these commissioners are resigning their appointments in compliance with the electoral act 2022. It would be recalled that Commissioner of Information Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu on Friday told newsmen that some serving Commissioners might perhaps vacate their offices to run the incoming election in their respective constituencies.
