Prof Ejie spoke to some journalists recently in his office in the FCT recently.
Making his points, he said that some of the parliamentarians only go there to sleep away there time, without even sponsoring a bill or doing vusible things in their constituencies or senatorial districts. Attributing the problems to voting into NAss, people who are not qualified to be there, he recalled how a bill he sponsored as the Director General of United Nigerian Chaplaincy (UNC) was thrown out. Boasting that the UNC Bill would have addressed so many issues that are still there yearning to be addressed, had jt been thst it was passed into law, he regretted that the bill didn’t see the light of the day, even as be again attributed that to voting wrong people into the NAss.
On his view about the use of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System, (BVAS) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (NEC), he said he was optimistic on the use of such technology during next year’s polls.
Responding to questions about his rumored defection to another political party, he denied the allegation disclosing that he has never contemplated to dump his party to another party owing to quality of leadership in the party, even as he disclosed that many politicians from major political parties have been persuading him to drop his political ambition, claiming that some were willing to give him millions of naira.
Prof Ejie who refused to name the politicians and their parties who have been pleading with him to step down his political ambition also denied his party being factionalized. He told reporters that, though there were pressures from political opponents for him to drop his ambition or defect to another party, he said that he refused that, adding that he will never do that, claiming that his political mandate is divine.
Disclosing why he wants to represent the FCT in the Red Chamber, he said: “I want to represent the FCT people in the senate, because they love me and I love them too. I will go extra miles to ensuring that all that is not provided for them by the current representatives in both Chambers are made available.” He promised to make people’s oriented laws when given the opportunity to serve his people, stressing that with his presidential candidate at helms of affairs in the country most citizens will enjoy true and people — oriented democracy.
